Talk by Kateřina Škardová

The next seminar “Modelling of materials – theory, model reduction and efficient numerical methods” will take place on Wednesday from 9:00 in lecture room K3. The talk will be given by Kateřina Škardová. Please see the details below.

Speaker: Kateřina Škardová
Title: Numerical and machine learning methods for medical image processing

Abstract: This talk will concern the use of mathematical methods in medical image data processing. The use of numerical methods as well as their combination with machine learning methods will be discussed. The use of these methods will be demonstrated on problems in cardiac magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) data processing. Two topics will be addressed primarily – image registration and tissue parameter estimation. The former will be discussed in the context of extracting cardiac motion and analyzing its features such as torsion. In the second part, the two-stage tissue parameter estimation method for T1 relaxation time estimation from MOLLI image series will be presented.
